For the holidays we asked students and staff to answer multiple questions that we turned into "Five Days of Christmas" fun. Each day this week more information will be added. Enjoy!

The First Day of Christmas

Results are in. Here are your top 3 favorite voted on Christmas songs:

No. 1 Christmas song is “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” by Thurl Ravenscroft.

No. 2 Christmas song is “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee.

No. 3 Christmas song is “Last Christmas” by Wham.

Second Day of Christmas

We asked for movie reviews and here are the responses:

Elf had five reviews

“10/10. Classic, never been done before and stands the test of time. Also, has some great lines to quote throughout the month of December.”

“Super funny, 10 out of 10.”

“10/10. It captures the mental struggle of a man who grew up in an environment that normal humans aren't used to, and then Buddy is sent to the normal world, and he struggles, but he adapts.”

“5/5 because it is a hilarious cult classic.”

“Elf is the best movie ever, having the right comedy for our ages. 9/10.”

How the Grinch Stole Christmas had multiple reviews for the multiple films:

"The original How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I would give it a Rotten Tomatoes score of 85%. The storyline is timeless, you learn a valuable lesson and good always wins.”

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas live action: 100/100. This movie is my childhood and it has nice life lessons and is very funny and lovely to watch.”

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas from 2000. It'd receive a 9/10 because Jim Carrey looked terrifying.”

“The Grinch 2018 film. 100”

The Holiday had two reviews:

“10/10, super funny and warm. It is a great way to kick off the season!”

“Top rating, soundtrack is super, Jack Black is comedy, it has romance and a happy ending with some old Hollywood greats.”

The Third Day of Christmas

We asked for people’s favorite winter holiday tradition and this is what they said:

“Watching holiday movies with the family.”

“Every Christmas Eve I make chili and we watch the movie Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Then we go look at Christmas lights around the neighborhood. When we come home, we read the book Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

“Going to Christmas Eve service and watching college football.”

“Going to other faiths on Christmas Eve to hear them talk about Him and then go see Christmas lights.”

“Driving around to look at Christmas lights.”

“My family and I eat Chinese food on Christmas Eve with family while watching A Christmas Story!”

“Making Christmas candy as a family and enjoying the time together while we make them.”

“Presents.”

“I watch nightmare before Christmas every Christmas Eve.”

“Santa Mouse - based on the children's book of the same name. In the story, Santa's helper, Santa Mouse, fell out of Santa's sleigh but used his present as a parachute. He fell asleep in someone's tree next to his present to wait for Santa to find him. Since I was a toddler, my parents hid a gift somewhere in the tree, always an ornament, so by the time I was an adult I had my own collection of ornaments to start my own tree with. I did the same with my own kids, and even though they are both in their twenties, both have told me they hope I always leave a "Santa Mouse" for them.”

“Opening Christmas presents with the family on Christmas morning.”

“Going to Colorado with my dad and stepmom to see my stepmom’s family.”

“My favorite winter holiday tradition is the Polish tradition involving oplatek.”

“Going to Nevada for Christmas to see my  grammy and papa!”

The Fourth Day of Christmas

We asked people to create a winter character and describe their attributes:

“The gingerbread house. They bring joy to all the houses they visit and change decorations to bring more Christmas spirit in.”

“A little Christmas penguin with a red hat. His name is Kalyan. He carries around a candy cane with a flag that says how much he loves Geometry.”

“Mr. Jingles - he is Santa's cousin and can be seen dressed like a Jester but with red and white everything. He has a pink nose and rosy cheeks with a white beard and jingles on his feet. He is in charge of eerie jingle bells made. His factory sits next to the 7 dwarfs cave. He uses silver and gold, tin and brass to make jingles that jangle for fun to last. He is in charge of sleigh bells and church bells, galore. He has a direct supply chain to the dollar store. He always delivers the sounds of the season and is Santa’s lookout every season. He can be heard when Santa is near for all to remember the magic is near. Mr. Jingles is a childhood friend and he has to make his presence known by the fireplace or chimney every year. Without Mr. Jingles it is a silent night. Without Mr. Jingles the season is not right. I actually grew up with a Mr. Jingles that my mother had as a child. It is not Christmas until Mr. Jingles is placed on the hearth. He is a fixture for our family and makes a jolly round sound with his tummy, as it has a jingle bell inside. It is not an annoying sound, and he is well loved, but Mr. Jingles helps my mom and I and our kids remember the magic of the season and being a child.”

“Don Snowmen. He's a snowman mob boss that is the head of the snowman mob. He has a stereotypical Italian mustache and a bowler cap with sunglasses. He has a fake Italian accent that he developed.”

“Mini Grinch. Looks like a cute, teeny version of the Grinch.”

“Black male with a bright green beanie and blue clothes with white shoes. He's very kind and helps charities during the holidays.”

“Ice girl. She has blue hair, wears a purple and pink dress similar to Elsa, but different. She has ice crushing and snow cone making powers.”

The Fifth Day of Christmas

We asked people to write a 5-line poem with the theme of winter/holidays:

Holidays bring joy.

Holidays bring a toy.

This is not a one-man band.

So hold everyone’s hand.

Sing like a Whoville.

Kalyan the penguin, with a red hat so bright,

Wanders through snow on this cold winter's night.

With a candy cane flag, in his flippers so tight,

It waves proudly, proclaiming his love for the light—

Of Geometry's shapes, in the frosty moon's sight.

Bringing Glory, Truth, and light

Is this season's plight

Everyone one of us has a task

To share joy, peace enough to last

Happy Holidays

The family, the friends.

That one day, wish it never to end.

Down in my heart, a carol plays, about this time, that one day.

The gifts, the trinkets, and the thing picks.

That one faithful day, now we must wait another year, until we gift these flicks.

In winter's chill, the snowflakes dance

With twinkling lights, the streets enhance

Families gather, warmth in their hearts

Sharing laughter, as the magic starts

A season of joy, where all love imparts

On Christmas day, the children laugh and play,

They get their gifts for being good, and enjoy their childhood,

because it doesn't last long- perhaps in the blink of an eye!

But to all a happy holiday for the holiday cheer never dies!

Snow as white as fur

powers as cold as ice

Snow cones making in the air

Snowmen eating ice cream

in plain sight
